Press Release
Hundreds of Volunteers Will Transform Our Community in Just One Day

June 3, 2010, Dayton, Ohio - On Friday, June 4th, almost 500 volunteers from across the Miami Valley will spend the day out of the office completing community service projects as part of United Way’s Day of Action.  Held annually on the first Friday in June, Day of Action mobilizes the human manpower in our region to benefit our local network of health and human services.  Projects range from painting and landscaping to cleaning and light construction work.

“It’s a fantastic way to create immediate impact and positive change,” said United Way President Allen Elijah.  “Day of Action allows the many talented people in our region to unite and use their skills in a way that helps our community.”

Day of Action volunteers will be working on more than 60 projects throughout Montgomery, Greene and Preble Counties.  Volunteers come primarily from the workplace, but families and groups of all ages participate as well.

United Way officials will be available for media interviews at different points throughout the day.  To schedule an interview, please contact the cell phone numbers listed on this release.
