Dayton Goes LIVE!The Greater Dayton Area has been through some tough times, but it is by no means "dying."   That’s why we are stopping the clock to raise awareness of all that is good about our community.   We’re not going to be swallowed up in the shadow of Cincinnati.  We’re Dayton – the city of innovation – and we can take care of our own.

On Wednesday, September 9, your United Way will kickoff the 2009 campaign with an unprecedented community-wide celebration. Come join us and be a part of your United Way's first ever community-wide flash mob!
How to Get Involved:

1.  Get the Gear

Wear  your LIVE UNITED gear -- it can be a T-Shirt, a button, even a sticker!  Don't have any? Don't worry!
  • Order a T-Shirt or button directly from the United Way Store.
  • Order T-Shirts from United Way of the Greater Dayton Area.  Shirts are $10 each and come in sizes Small through 3XL.  Contact United Way's campaign department at campaign-web@dayton-unitedway.org to place your order and arrange for pickup.
  • Click here to print off the tagline and make your own T-Shirt using iron-on transfer paper.

2.  Make a Sign

Create or print off a sign stating how you LIVE UNITED or why your town is the best town.
  • Click here to download a pre-made "I LIVE UNITED" sign.  Fill in the white space with a message about how you LIVE UNITED.
  • Click here to download a pre-made "My Town is the Best Town Because" sign.  Fill in the white space with whatever you think is the best thing about your community (your friends, the people, the places, etc.).

3.  Pick Your Spot

4.  Take a Stand
  • Arrive at your chosen spot at noon on September 9, 2009.  Wear your LIVE UNITED gear and bring your sign.
  • At 12:09pm, stop what you're doing, hold up your sign and freeze in place for two minutes.
  • At 12:11pm, cheer, take down your signs, hug and/or high-five your neighbors.
  • Stick around for the kickoff!  Press conferences will be held at 12:15pm at Courthouse Square, Preble County Courthouse and the Greene to officially kickoff the 2009 United Way Campaign.

5.  Go Online!

Share pictures and stories about the flash mob with the rest of the world!
  • Post them on our Facebook page.
  • Post them on Flickr with the tag "daytongoeslive" to add them to our gallery.
